Regional Transportation

U. S. Congressman John Mica and FDOT District Secretary Noranne Downs invite Central Florida Partnership to lead Core Strategy Team for Commuter Rail to develop "next steps" in securing liability agreements and passage of Central Florida Commuter Rail legislation.

"Task Force" Chair, John H. Bultema, III, Fifth Third Bank, presented regional transportation priorities to the Governors Council, Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission, securing its unanimous support.
Central Florida Partnership and the Tampa Bay Partnership met with Polk County Leaders to explore coast-to-coast support of Central Florida Commuter Rail.

Central Florida Partnership assembled "Great Thinkers" industry leaders to provide on-going advice and expertise regarding commuter rail.

Regional Rally for Rail convened regional leaders with Congressman John Mica to send the message that Central Florida Commuter Rail is alive and well.

METROPLAN ORLANDO briefed the Transportation Corridors "Task Force" on the important elements of the Transportation Funding equation as well as the purpose and work product of the regional transportation-planning agency.

Regional Entrepreneurship

Conducted "Think Tank" at Rollins College to respond and react to Diagnostics and Scan of entrepreneurial resources in Central Florida. Central Florida Partnership’s E-Team will make recommendations to regional partners.

Central Florida Small Business Summit, September 26, 2008, to include nationally-renowned headliners, presentation of Regional Research on Entrepreneurship, Community Learning Labs and Speed Counseling.

U. S. Chamber of Commerce Accreditation Application Process progressing toward December 31, 2008 deadline to retain
Orlando Regional Chamber’s "Five Star" Accreditation status.

Regional Leadership

Central Florida Partnership appoints thirteen additional members to its Board of Directors, including the election of Alex Martins, Orlando Magic, as 2010 Chair.

Leadership Orlando announces its 2009 Schedule.

Regional Research and Resolves

Tampa Bay Partnership presented its priority initiatives to the Board of Directors, along with its commitment to work together for the benefit of the Central Florida mega-region.

Regional Congress of Leaders set three priority areas of focus: Regional Transportation,
Regional Green Print and Regional Water Policy. Board of Directors adopted Phase III Scope of Work that includes: Publishing Progress Report/Report Card; Leadership Engagement; Environmental Conservation; Regional Transportation; and a Social Services Council.

"How Shall We Grow?" initiative, led by, showcased as "Best Practice" at Urban Land Institute Leadership Conference
in Seattle.

Regional Public Policy Advocacy

Central Florida Partnership provides community updates on Direct Elected School Board Chair Proposal for Orange County Public Schools.

BusinessForce endorses a strong field of local, regional and state pro-business candidates.

Political Leadership Institute showcased at U. S. Chamber of Commerce Governmental Affairs National Conference in Orlando.
