Special Edition: SunRail Will Put Florida on the Right Track - March 27, 2009

Friday, March 27, 2009

Here’s some very important new information about SunRail (SB 1212); there’s been a change in plans.

Earlier today, I received the "official word" from Senator Lee Constantine that SunRail (SB 1212) will not be scheduled for "presentation" to the Florida Senate Transportation and Economic Development Appropriations Committee (TED) on Wednesday, April 1, 2009. This change in plans is based on thoughtful input from a variety of sources and gives everyone a chance to properly focus on “content”
not "timing
."

Shown Above: Senator Lee Constantine addresses questions from members of the media at the recent "SunRail Rally" hosted by the Central Florida Partnership and advanced by a Coalition of Central Florida Chambers of Commerce (Apopka Area, East Orlando, Hispanic, Orlando Regional, Oviedo-Winter Springs, Seminole County Regional, West Orange and Winter Park).

Toward this end, it will be my pleasure to be in touch early next week with additional details; in the meantime, please know, this change in plans gives all of us a chance to better concentrate our collective energies and combined efforts in a more leisurely pace.  However, this "extra time" is not "time off," we will need to make sure we are able to take advantage of this "breather," with each of us continuing to do our part to support this important effort. To be clear, SunRail (SB 1212) will not be presented next week; along these lines, once it has been properly calendared before the Florida Senate Transportation and Economic Development Appropriations Committee (TED), "’ll be "back in touch" so that you and others can plan accordingly.

With this in mind, if you have not already done so, please convey your personal support regarding SunRail to the following members of the Florida Senate Transportation and Economic Development Appropriations Committee (TED).  For your information and review, shown below are the "Member Pages" of the Florida Senators serving on this Committee.

Chair: Senator Mike Fasano (R)
Vice Chair: Senator Anthony C. "Tony" Hill, Sr. (D)
Senator Alex Diaz de la Portilla (R)
Senator Paula Dockery (R)
Senator Andy Gardiner (R)
Senator Christopher L. "Chris" Smith (D)
Senator Ronda Storms (R)

Once again, if you have not done so, please email the Governor, Cabinet, and Members of the Florida Senate and Florida House of Representatives via the Right Track Florida web site, just "click here," Contact Your Elected Officials.
