BusinessForce, the political action arm of the Central Florida Partnership, is entering the homestretch in its series of interviews with 2010 candidates for state and local office in the region. Last week, its Legislative Committee, chaired by Beth Thibodaux, conducted interviews for four “open” seats in the Regional Legislative Delegation to be vacated by Senator Cary Baker (R-Eustis), Representatives Sandy Adams (R-Oviedo), Alan Hays (R-Umatilla) and Pat Patterson (R-Deland). Endorsement recommendations will be reported to the BusinessForce Board of Directors, chaired by Derek Bruce, at its June 18th meeting. This week, County Commission Committee Chair Chris Carmody will gear up his committee for a full day of interviews which will conclude their remaining interviews with candidates for some hotly contested county commission seats in Orange, Osceola and Seminole Counties. Their recommendations will also come before the BusinessForce Board of Directors for final action at its June 18th meeting. BusinessForce President Mike Ketchum saluted the dedication of the BusinessForce interview committees throughout the year stating “Their hard work over many hours has resulted in an outstanding slate of pro-business candidates to present to our regional business community and ask them to support in 2010.” To learn how you can become involved in BusinessForce, visit www.orlando.org/businessforce or contact michael.ketchum@orlando.org.
