On July 15-16, 2010, myregion.org, along with partner ULI Central Florida, hosted a Regional Water Workshop at which state and national experts developed initial recommendations for a Regional Water Strategy. The Strategy will address issues such as conservation and the environment, education and outreach, economics and pricing, design and development and alternative water supply.

A theme that was heard throughout the Workshop and which was acknowledged in an article published by the Daytona News-Journal is the need for local governments throughout the region to work together to develop a solution to Central Florida’s regional water supply issues.

The need for regional collaboration was the theme for another article featuring myregion.org that was recently published in The Ledger. The article outlines the importance of local governments working together to address issues such as economic development, transportation and the environment; issues that go beyond city and county borders. The issue is especially important to the Poinciana area of Central Florida where businesses and residents from neighboring cities and counties come together and the lines on a map belie the reality that the area is truly one economic and population center and must function as such in order to prosper.

myregion.org is one of four lines of business by which the Central Florida Partnership focuses on “Regional Research and Resolves.”  By identifying and examining the changing demographics and powerful trends that are shaping the Central Florida Region – myregion.org is helping to identify the issues and challenges that affect our future.

Working together with Orlando, Inc. (Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce) focused on Regional Entrepreneurship, BusinessForce (Public Policy Advocacy), and Leadership Orlando (Regional Leadership), the Central Florida Partnership is moving “Ideas to Results.”
