Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer Endorses SunRail in "State of the City"
This morning, in front of a "standing room only" crowd, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer endorsed the economic power of SunRail. During his "State of the City," Mayor Dyer spoke to the importance of transportation when it comes to the future success of the Central Florida Region, "Critical to creating jobs and opportunity for our residents, is expanding public transit. For every dollar we spend on transportation, we will see $6 return to our local economy. Toward this end, we're focused on breaking ground on Central Florida's first Commuter Rail (SunRail) later this year, with service beginning in 2013."
SunRail Will Have a Powerful and Positive Economic Impact on Central Florida
Mayor Dyer went on to say, "No project in our region will have the power to impact people's daily lives the way SunRail will; SunRail will provide a desperately-needed alternative to clogged roadways and rising gas prices, and SunRail will create 113,000 jobs and billions of dollars in positive economic impact. Even if you never set foot on the train, SunRail will make Central Florida a better place in which to live, work, learn and play."
