Monday, January 9, 2012 11:00 am

Leslie HielemaLater this week Orlando Inc. President, Leslie Hielema, will lead a delegation of Chamber leaders to the Florida Chamber’s 2012 Capitol Days in Tallahassee. While in the state capital the delegation will meet with and hear directly from a host of top state leaders from both the executive and legislative branch on key issues expected to come before the 2012 legislative session.

"Participating in Capitol Days will again provide Orlando Inc. with an excellent  opportunity to weigh in on its key issues and also support our partners at the Florida Chamber of Commerce in advancing their aggressive 2012 Business Agenda," said Hielema.  "Last session was a banner year for the business community and with a strongly pro-business governor and legislature in place, prospects are good for another successful legislative session," she added.

Traveling with the delegation also will be Orlando, Inc. Vice President for Public Policy, Mike Ketchum, who will be stationed in Tallahassee for the duration of the legislative session. "With the array of important issues coming before the legislature in 2012, our presence there is needed to monitor and influence issues where necessary that are important to our region’s business community." he stated.

The proposed expansion of gambling, legislative redistricting and the state budget shortfall, along with several Central Florida Partnership, priorities were cited by Ketchum as issue.
