Building Leaders Globally - AAA and Tupperware Brands on Board

Monday, January 30, 2012 11:00 am

The American Automobile Association, is a federation of 51 independently operated motor clubs throughout North America, with more than 51 million members, providing services such as travel, automotive, insurance, financial, and discounts. AAA has reciprocal arrangements with a range of international affiliates, and its national headquarters is located in Heathrow, Florida.

Leadership Orlando is proud to have Yolanda Cade, Managing Director of Public Relations for AAA National Office, serving as the Chair of Leadership Orlando Class 83, beginning in April.

Her previous experience with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) under the Department of Homeland Security, as well as Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport - the world's busiest airport – brings a "world" of experience to our program.  Active in the Central Florida community, Yolanda serves on the Board of Trustees for Central Florida Regional Hospital and also has been a member of the Board of Directors for the Central Florida Urban League for nearly three years, now serving as its Board Chair.

"Given the scope of her experience, both in the public and private sectors, we are delighted that Yolanda Cade will be guiding our participants through their eight-month Leadership Orlando experience," said Ruth Mustian, President of Leadership Orlando

For also bringing an international perspective to Leadership Orlando, we have Tupperware Brands Corporation to thank.  An investor in the Central Florida Partnership, Tupperware has, for over 60 years, made a difference in the lives of women around the world by offering an independent business opportunity. Reinforcing itself as a multi-brand, multi-category, direct sales company, Tupperware Brands, has a global sales force of almost 2 million in almost 100 countries, as well as sales revenues of $1.7 billion.

Tupperware’s Global Links Externship Program, developed in partnership with the U.S. Secretary of State's Office of Global Women's Issues and Rollins College, will sponsor a female Iraqi professor in the United States for one year. The two-part program includes a hands-on externship at Tupperware's headquarters in Orlando and an academic year in residence at nearby Rollins College, where she will participate in a specially designed curriculum focused on entrepreneurship, women business ownership and financial self-sufficiency. Using a "train-the-trainer" model, the program will enable the professor to return to Iraq and impart her training on hundreds of Iraqi university students.

Recognizing the value that Leadership Orlando can bring to its colleagues, Tupperware will sponsor its Exchange Visitor/2012 Global Links Fellow, as a participant in Class 83.  Amel Abed Mohammed Ali, Ph.D., is a professor and the head of the Department of Industrial Management in Babylon University's College of Administration & Economics in Babylon, Iraq. An Iraqui National, she is an accomplished researcher and academician focusing on several research topics, including strategies of organizational conflict management and change management and the effect of transformational leadership and information technology on business operations.

"We are grateful to Central Florida Partnership Board Member, Yolanda Londono, and Tupperware Brands for including Leadership Orlando in their externship experience for its Global Links candidate," continued Mustian.  "With this unique addition to our class, being a member of Class 83, beginning April 3-4, will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to gain such a contemporary international perspective."

If you have been looking for the "right" time to participate in Leadership Orlando, or know someone who should be in the room for these discussions, now is indeed the perfect time to be a part of America’s largest Community Leadership program, Leadership Orlando.  Preparing for the future of our region is up to each of us.  Now is the time to learn about the issues, participate in the difficult conversations and help in guiding our future.

Enrollment is currently underway for Class 83, scheduled to begin in April 2012.  Space is limited, so don’t delay!  The online enrollment form and the full schedule may be accessed at www.LeadershipOrlando.org.  Should you have questions, contact Kathy Panter at 407.835.2499 or via email at Kathy.Panter@ideastoresults.org.
